The secret is to follow the principles of design: Line, Form, Scale, Pattern, Texture and Color.

Edges, corners and decorative features create an abundance of lines. The bathroom will feel more integrated and harmonious if these elements align as much as possible.

For instance the top of the door creates an horizontal line, if there is a window or tall cabinet in the room, the design will be smoother if the top edges line up with the top line of the door molding. When it is not possible to align the elements you can still create a unified feeling by introducing a line of tiles or a strip or molding to tie the elements.

Form, it relates to this shape and structure of various elements in design. Rectangular forms dominate most bathrooms, but in order to be harmonious, their proportions must be similar.

classic-bath

This principle is an expression of relative size. The size of the fixtures must be proportional to the size of the room.
lavatorios

Is the ordered regularity of the elements of design. In most bathrooms the goal is to strike a balance between too much of the same pattern and too many different ones. One apporach is to reduce pattern to a bare minimum by using mostly plain materials.

tub

Most bathroom textures – the visual and tactile surface of all of the materials used- are smooth for durability and easy cleaning , but even smooth surfaces can vary. Consider the differences to the touch among polished wood, glazed tile, porcelain and glass. Think about texture when you choose all of your materials.

Where do you start? If there are permanent materials in the bathroom, such as a blue tub, start with that color and build a scheme around it. You can also build a color scheme around a fabric or wallcovering or a painting that you want to include in the bathroom.

There are many ways to use Asian influence in our Interior Decorating Project. There are some decorating Tips that might be useful:

And as far as colors we can stick to black, white, off white and neutrals, cue from nature.

If you can not afford to designate a room in your home as a work area, consider converting a closet. This natural space affords one great feature: Your special area can be easily hidden by closing a door. For those who work at home, converting their “spare room” closet into a compact office area by building in all the required amenities can save both dollars and space. And do not forget to save a small area of the closet for Mom and Dad to hang their clothes.

Curtains and other fabric-type window treatments have had a resurgence in the past several years, but I advise you to lighten up on any thoughts of heavily styled treatments.

When planning the designs for your window treatments, consider treatments that, when open, expose the entire window, letting the light shine in. A fabric scarf draped over decorative rodding is all that is needed in many cases. Pleated shades can be added for room darkening and privacy.

First of all, make a list of all the things you want from the new bathroom.

A roomy, well -lit shower, sharp edge appliances, water flowing tubs, nice view, etc.

Don´t forget to consider the reality. Now is the time to identify the practical issues that will set limits on the design. These are the hard realities: budget, building codes, the physical and structural limitations of the space, the feasibility of changing plumbing and wiring, and the amount of work you intend to do yourself.

Do not view these issues as obstacles to creating a wonderful design – view them rather as opportunities for creative problem solving.

Put lighting to work on your side!!!

To avoid getting overwhelmed let´s go step by step. Do one area at the time. The first thing we need is to clear and clean every corner of that space. Let´s take everything out, all the furniture, rugs, paintings, everything! Let´s scrub old energies out!

Then we will pick up the paint colors, as well as the proper material accordingly with the compass points.
colors-fabrics

Color is a Feng Shui cure because each color of the rainbow is associated with one of the nine life areas. The calm colors of green bring balance and harmony to family life because the vibrations of the color are slow and steady. Colors have the power to uplift or depress the chi in a room. For example, painting a baby’s room sunshine yellow is not ideal because this color stimulates the body and the purpose of a baby’s room is to calm them for a good night sleep or nap.

arsl01_bedrooms

Each color is stimulating or soothing. When decorating think about what you need to accomplish in the area you are presently working. For bedrooms you want to pick soothing colors. Bedrooms, family rooms and bathrooms are best painted soft shades of blues and greens.

Reds, oranges, and yellows are energetic colors and they are best suited for dining rooms, itchens and playrooms. Colors in Feng Shui are an inexpensive way to quickly change the chi in the room. We can uplift the chi from a dining room by using a red table cloth or by having yellow seat cushions.

If you want passion in your life use high powered colors such as reds and oranges.

Oranges are happy, refreshing and revitalizing. Good for kitchens and playrooms. In softer shades great for family rooms where you want fun and relaxation.

Yellows are happy, creative and vital.

Greens are healing, renewal, balanced and calm. Great for living rooms and bedrooms.

Blues are healing and relaxing. Blue is great in a patient´s room.

Indigois a relaxing color. It is great for kids. It keeps health in the home.

Purple are richness, wealth, abundance and transformation.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to redecorate your home, say, once every few months? But most of us don’t have the time—or, let’s admit it, the money—to do that. What we can do is make small changes that have big visual impact. Decorating with accessories such as lamps, vases, frames or ceramics is a simple, yet effective technique to give any room a quick face lift. Vignettes (or small groupings of accessories) are a creative way to add drama or personality to any space, no matter how small. Just remember that when creating a vignette, aim for variety and balance.
